The Ondo State government yesterday gave a 14-day ultimatum to the Ojijigogun ruling house to complete the selection process and filling the vacant stool of Deji of Akure left by the ex-monarch, Oba Oluwadare Adesina after his deposition.

The government directive was contained in a letter dated July 26, 2010 signed by the Secretary to Akure South Local Government K.O Balogun which read in part, “Consequent upon the state government’s directive as contained in the July, 19, 2010 letter to you, you are hereby requested to commence in earnest, the selection process towards filling the vacant stool of the Deji of Akure”.

Besides, the government also directed that the selection process should be done in line with the provisions of the Chiefs Edict, 1984.  The deposed Oba had on Sunday, May 30, 2010 invaded No. 141 Hospital Road, in company of Olori Remi Abiola Adepoju and allegedly assaulted Olori Bolanle Adepoju during which the woman sustained serious injuries. Already, three ruling families that make up the Ojijigogun ruling house have begun consultations on which candidates to present.
