Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) yesterday gave guidelines to traders at the Utako Market, before reopening the place for business.

The council’s chairman, Micah Jiba, said although work in the market is complete, the council decided to reopen the market to enable traders carry on with their business after the market’s closure for almost a month.

“Work is still ongoing although from Monday to Friday traders can open for their business, while the contractor continues his work from Saturday to Sunday,” he said.

The chairman also told the traders that they will pay N6 million demand notices to AMAC for cleaning the market when the time comes.
He warned traders that the council will not tolerate attachments and displaying of items on spaces meant for parking vehicles.
The chairman also announced that sanitizing Utako Motor Park will be the council’s next action.

Responding, Chairman of Utako Traders Association, Felix Nweze, commended the council for reopening the market for business activities, saying the traders will cooperate with the council in her efforts to sanitize the place and complete unfinished work.
