Kwara probes principals’ roles in exam leakage

The Kwara State Commissioner for Education Bolaji Abdullahi yesterday disclosed that principals involved in the recent examination leakage leading to the cancellation of the last mock examination in the state’s secondary schools were being probed.

Daily Trust reliably gathered that a director in the State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology had been sent on compulsory leave for alleged negligence during the said examinations.

“The roles of school principals in the act will be investigated and anyone found guilty would face the full wrath of the law”, the commissioner disclosed. The ministry cancelled the mock examination following allegations of leakages in secondary schools across the state. As a first measure, 16 students caught in the act from six schools are to repeat SSS 1 to serve as deterrent. The affected schools include GSS, St Anthony, GDSS, Odo-Okun, Sheikh Abdulkadir College and GDSS,  all in Ilorin metropolis, and GDSS Budo-Egba in Asa Local Government.

The commissioner however blamed the sharp practices on ‘system failure’ and stressed the need to overhaul the examination unit of the ministry to guide against future occurrence.
