According to him, on July 23, 2010, the command received information from concerned citizens that the suspect had deliberately tied her adopted son, Mohammed, aged 10, with a rope in her house and set him on fire. He said Mohammed sustained injuries and was rushed to the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto (UDUTH). The deputy commissioner added that he was later transferred to Sokoto clinic where he died while receiving treatment.
He said investigations were still on and that when concluded the suspect would be taken to court for prosecution. The suspect refused to speak to journalists on the incident. Late mohammed was said to have been under the care of the Sokoto State Orphanage Home before his adoption.
